CELEBRATIONS AND MEMORIES

To remember a special event centered around beekeeping or commemorate the passing of a loved one who had a love of  beekeeping, this page provides a space to leave a lasting legacy that is benefitting the bees.

If you have had a tree planted in a public place then we will record the tree location (using What Three Words) and photo of the tree if provided. Members can then observe the tree over time as it grows and recognise  the collective contribution to beekeeping and the wider environment made by members over time.

150 years of BBKA

To celebrate 150 years of BBKA, SDBKA members participated in planting a  commemorative hedge at Castle Hill Country Park. The hedge consisting of a mix of native species including buckthorn, crab apple, elder, hawthorn and wild cherry was planted on 30th November 2024 by Venetia Coupe, Sally Nelson, Suzy Clark, Ian Woodcock, Alistair Riggs, Jake Taylor and Daniel Bailey. Once established hopefully it will provide a good mix of pollinator friendly plants and food and shelter for local wildlife.

Hedge was planted between What3Words location:
